CCIT Wins 2009 Tranny Award

The Mobile Century/Mobile Millennium Project has won the California Transportation Foundation’s 2009 Tranny Award for Traffic Operations/ITS Project of the Year, it was announced earlier this month. The awards celebrate transportation achievements in 2008. This is the second year in a row CCIT projects have taken this statewide honor.

Project partners Caltrans District 4, UC Berkeley College of Engineering, and Nokia were announced at a June 3 luncheon in Sacramento. The Mobile Century and Mobile Millennium projects are the earlier and later stages of large-scale field operation testing to use GPS-enabled smart phones as traffic probes while protecting user privacy.

More information about the Tranny award can be found at the Transportation Foundation's website.
