- If there is congestion from resort area traffic, consider either
fixed or variable
message signs to direct traffic so that it moves as quickly
as possible without interfering unduly with local traffic.
- If congestion on the main road imposes undue delays on cross
streets or roads, consider traffic-actuated
signals to allow traffic to cross.
- When delay is severe, consider using portable variable message
signs to indicate expected travel times to key locations in order
to motivate travelers to postpone their departure until traffic
abates.
