Incident Management > Emergency Management  > Emergency Vehicle Management

                                                                                                  Printer-friendly version

The primary objective of this user service is to reduce the time it takes emergency vehicles to respond to an incident after its detection.  This can be achieved in several ways, including:

  • fleet management: which would provide accurate information describing the location of emergency vehicles, thus allowing dispatchers to send the first available vehicle within close proximity of the emergency location;
  • route guidance: directs emergency vehicle to the incident location; and
  • signal priority: which optimizes traffic signal timings along the route of the emergency vehicle.
