Border Crossing ITS Technology Demonstration

The objective of the federally funded "Otay Mesa Border Crossing/Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Commercial Vehicle Processing Technology Demonstration" is to demonstrate and evaluate the systems application of proven ITS technologies to the efficient movement of trade through the international border. The commercial vehicle border crossing at Otay Mesa, California is the proposed site of the project. The Technology Demonstration will illustrate the application of electronic data interchange, electronic credentials, electronic pre-processing, and electronic screening to the efficient processing of commercial vehicles, drivers, and trade transactions.

CommerceNet and Next Generation Internet

In 2001/2002, the Northern California NGI Center was co-located with CCIT. More information on this incubator program.
CCIT will continue to work with the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) and CommerceNet to explore how the NGI can improve the efficiency and safety of the transportation system. The NGI application center was established by CommerceNet with lead funding from the California Technology, Trade and Commerce Agency - Division of Science, Technology, and Innovation. AWIS
This proposal is to evaluate up to six different Automated Work Zone Information Systems (AWIS) deployed by Caltrans in the state of California. Work or construction zones are dangerous places for Caltrans workers and place of severe congestion which can cause rear-end and other vehicle collisions. More Information
