ITS for Public Transit

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) can greatly improve the level of service provided to users of public transportation. Transit agencies can implement a host of ITS systems and technologies, from disseminating multi-modal trip information or even real-time trip data (e.g., “the bus is arriving in X minutes”), to effecting operational improvements such as transit signal priority.

Wireless technologies and on-the-go web access are shaping a new realm of possibilities for both transit operators and their customers. For this third edition of our ITS luncheon workshops, come hear and debate about what technology can do for our public transportation networks. Including a mix of private sector and public agency representatives, our distinguished panelists will highlight some of the most recent developments taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area and present the benefits accrued from adopting ITS innovations.
